BRC are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-respected Mental Health charity for an Information, Advice and Assistant Worker in Monmouthshire. This is initially a temporary contract working on a part-time basis.

This role requires you to provide Information, Advice and Assistance (IAA) services to people with mental health problems or at risk of developing mental health problems which offer information and advice relating to accessing care and support.


- Ensure individuals and their families are listened to and communicated with, that they maintain independence and are safeguarded from any abuse.
- Promote early detection and early resolution, so that concerns and problems are put right quickly and effectively.
- Support individuals to help them understand the importance of their well-being and their rights involved in life decisions.
- Contribute towards preventing or delaying the development of people`s needs for care and support.
- Enable individuals to make plans to meet their care and support needs.
- Provide information on how the care and support system operates (including the range of preventatives services), both locally and across Wales.
- Provide information on how individuals can gain access to these services and support mechanisms as well as information on how individuals can raise concerns about themselves or others who appear to have a need for care and support.
- Provide IAA on: Housing related issues including grants, housing adaptations and prevention of homelessness, Financial Information including benefits, direct payments, money issues, Citizens` rights, entitlements and available support as well as the range of support, preventative and advocacy services available across the ABUHB area.
- Support people e.g. to complete paperwork such as benefit claim forms.

Essential Experience:

- Demonstrable experience of providing advice and support on some or all of the following: Housing issues, finance management, Citizen`s rights and entitlements, and range of support, preventative and advocacy services available across the ABUHB area.
- Experience of working with people with mental health problems and vulnerable adults.
- Experience in an office environment, including use of information technology, email, spreadsheets and databases.
- Understand the systems for care and support including the social security system.
- A clean driving licence and access to a car.
