My client is looking for an experienced Housing professional to join their established team to carry out an important function. The role is based in South-East of England.

I am keen to speak to Housing Options/Allocations specialist that have worked in a front line role preventing homelessness and making decisions based on S184. The right candidate will also have experience with generic housing management duties especially with Lettings and Tenancy Management.

Some of the duties you will be required to carry out are listed below;

-To make enquiries by home visit, interview, correspondence or telephone as necessary

-Wherever possible and appropriate, to undertake a face to face interview with the person or organisation instigating the homelessness, e.g. landlord, letting agent, mortgage lender, relative

-To provide appropriate advice to tenants and landlords regarding issues of security of tenure, possession proceedings, welfare benefits, etc.

-To maintain accurate administrative and performance information systems

-Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with people from a wide cross-section of society. Be able to deal with disappointed, angry and sometimes abusive customers

-Deal with correspondence from tenants, landlords and agents

-Create effective liaison with a variety of agencies as necessary in order to clarify and resolve any problems which are contributing to the threat of homelessness, e.g. Social Services, Probation Service, DWP, Other local authorities, Housing Associations, Citizens Advice Bureau and related agencies

Of course there is a lot more to this exciting role so I will be interested in speaking to candidates that have relevant experience. As the Housing Allocations/Options Officer you will be working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This is a temporary role and you will be working on this assignment for at least 3-4 months with a strong view to extension based on performance in the role and the needs of the team. To be considered for this role, you will need extensive housing options and allocations knowledge and experience as well as experience of having worked in a generic housing management role.
