Support Worker - Children and Young People

Our clients offer residential, and respite support services to adults to elderly, many of whom suffer severe Learning disabilities, autism (ASD), lone Working,
challenging behaviour, Dementia. The clients supported display both verbal and physical challenging behaviour and need Support Workers who will be able to effectively engage with them and manage these behaviours appropriately.

As a Residential Support Worker, you must be able to effectively engage with the children you will supporting and/or key working, can recognise possible behavioural triggers and effectively manage the associated behaviour displayed (verbal and physical), be able to provide a stimulating environment and ideally have some knowledge of non-verbal communication (e.g. PECs, Makaton, BSL).

There will be some personal care (e.g. washing, showering, bathing, dressing) and you should be familiar with using hoists or be willing to undertake training. You must have reasonable IT skills as you must be able to update reports with observations and contribute to team meetings. Good communications skills are essential as you will liaise with external stakeholders relating to the care of the children using the service.

You should be passionate about providing high quality care and be to deal with emotional, behavioural and stressful situations. Our clients offer a high level of support and will provide you with ongoing training and development. You will ideally have experience of working within a residential service as a residential support worker and understand the requirements of OFSTED regulations. It is not essential that you have experience of learning disabilities however this will be highly beneficial.

You will:
* Hold a valid DBS (Registered with the online service checker) or be prepared to undertake an enhanced DBS check through FRCE
* Ideally be available full time
* Able to work shifts, morning, evening, nights, weekends
