Computer Aided Engineer to provide Computer Aided Engineering crash analysis support for new vehicle programmes.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
* Provide structural analysis and design support to the Body Engineering team.
* Utilise Compute Aided Engineering tools and other calculation methods to assist the design of components, systems and full vehicle to meet performance, weight and cost targets.
* Lead the analysis of a range of crash, stiffness and strength load cases throughout the programme.
* To be involved in the construction of finite element analysis models within existing naming, numbering and model construction processes.
* Assist in the target setting process, including the development of Design Specifications.
* Lead the Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) process and ensuring that components/systems meet all relevant targets.
* Provide support and advice to the Body Engineering Computer Aided Design teams regarding geometry, materials and fixings.
* Provide support for Programme Module Team and Programme Module Sub Team functions as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Educated to Degree level in a Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical Engineering discipline or similar.
* Experience using LS-Dyna and Nastran/LS-Dyna Implicit.
* Extensive automotive industry experience with a broad knowledge of automotive engineering design and manufacturing, particularly relating to body structures and interior trim.
* Working knowledge of world safety standards and test procedures.
* Excellent understanding of mechanical engineering theory and practice.
* Knowledge of materials used in the high-performance automotive or aerospace sectors, e.g. aluminium alloys and carbon composites.
* The ability to construct a full vehicle crash model from scratch.
* Practical experience of FE pre- and post-processing software (e.g. Hyperworks, Oasys suite, Ansa, Medina Mesher etc).
* Ability to manage and oversee less experienced Computer Aided Engineers.
* Basic knowledge of Computer Aided Design tools
* Post holder must be capable of integrating into a successful and dynamic team and keen to take on a challenge.
* A proactive and positive approach to work and the ability to learn quickly.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver to demanding targets and tight deadlines.
* Occasional travel to support supplier visits, conferences and/or component/full vehicle testing. For this reason a full UK driving licence is preferable, but not essential
