My client has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join its existing team to support the development and delivery of income plans for its Printable Electronics activities. The role offers the opportunity to work with a multi-skilled technical team in an established, well-equipped facility focused on understanding and satisfying client needs and building sustainable relationships.

Duties of the role include;
• Determining the technology requirements of customers and collaborators and formulate solutions in printed electronic applications, devices and materials integration.
• Identifying and liaising with academic and industry partners to scope and deliver technological aspects of collaborative funding programmes.
• Identifying and enlisting associate providers of technological expertise to enhance the overall Company printable electronics offer.
• Identifying opportunities for the application of sensors to the internet of things.

The successful candidate will be based in Sedgefield, but will be expected to work across other sites depending on business needs therefore, candidates must be in possession of a full UK driving license.

The Person
Candidates must be educated to degree level in Chemistry/Physics/Materials Science or related discipline and have broad experience in an industrial setting operating in a technical and/or commercial function, particularly within a printed electronics or sensor related sector. Candidates must have a proven track record in business development, ideally having a broad experience in an industrial setting operating at the techno-commercial interface. Building on this experience, candidates will be expected to be able to generate, secure and develop high quality leads by being able to engage well with clients, understand how customers do business, find ways to address pressing business issues, and recommend the strategic solutions that improve the way our customers do business, by delivering innovative R&D projects.

The successful candidates will have excellent client management and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with technical and commercial leads within the company and network partners. You will also be able to generate win-win value propositions with project partners. It is anticipated that projects will span a range of sectors, as such; it is highly likely that candidates will have demonstrated an associated breadth of experience.
