The Client

Our client is quite simply a world leader in engineering, development and service to the Defence and Aerospace industries. With a presence in over 200 countries around the globe and nearly 50,000 employees worldwide they are at the leading edge of technology in their fields. We are now seeking a management accountant for them, this is a key role within their accounting function.

Job Description

- Prepare monthly reporting data to include full balance sheet and profit and loss analysis.
- Prepare annual 5 year plan, including trading data, balance sheet, headcount, cost base and recoveries.
- Provide full cost base and recoveries analysis and hold local meetings with cost centre managers to ensure adherence to budget and forecast commitments.
- Prepare and load SAP with forecast and budget updates in respect of overheads.
- Ensure Balance sheet reconciliations are up to date.
- Ad hoc duties in support of business decision making, as and when required.
- Provide support to the Head of Finance as appropriate.

Key Responsibility Areas

- Undertake specialist work and provide professional advice and make recommendations to support business effectiveness and decision making.
- Contribute proactively to business planning and management through the application of technical expertise and challenge to support the delivery of current and future business.
- Provide advice and overview to the organisation in order to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
- Support others in preparing information for statutory reporting and compliance activities.

Key Performance Indicators:

- Evidence of quality advice and solutions.
- Feedback from internal and external customers and colleagues.
- Delivery of projects to agreed time, cost and quality standards.
- Regular and accurate monitoring and reporting.
- Contribution towards policy development where appropriate.
- Ensures own compliance with all statutory requirements.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

- Professionally qualification – ACCA/CIMA
- Ability to influence and negotiate with others using facts and evidence.
- Use data and analysis to support line of reasoning.
- Labour rate recovery experience strongly desirable
- Understanding of the operational framework and business processes.
- Proven experience of planning own time and that of others over a period of months.
- The confidence and ability to challenge/respond to challenge on professional or process issues.
- Knowledgeable in the use of SAP SE business software.
- Demonstrable experience of Excel - Intermediate level.
- Working knowledge of long term contract accounting - desirable.
- Aerospace/Defence or engineering background - desirable.
