Our client is a leading national social housing provider looking to take on a Building Surveyor to deliver planned, preventative and responsive maintenance services in the South West. This is a home based role covering East Devon, South Somerset and West Dorset.

Key responsibilities:

- Operational lead for planned/ replacement programmes within an area
- Initiates and delivers local planned and preventative maintenance programmes within an area
- Provides technical support to Maintenance Surveyors when necessary
- Liaises closely with the Contract Manager on operational aspects of planned and responsive contracts and the quality of work
- Assumes primary responsibility for resolving significant operational problems and ensuring delivery
- Undertakes site inspections, specifying and procuring repairs, and undertaking progress inspections and post-completion checking, when necessary
- Leads on the diagnosis, options appraisal and delivery of technically complex or major repairs and projects
- Reviews performance information and customer feedback and takes action to ensure service standards are maintained or improved
- Deals with occurrences of service failure, including dealing with compensation claims, complaints, and legal actions
- Ensures the safety of the clients Staff Including themselves; Tenant; contractor; and the general public in the planning and delivery of maintenance activities.

Person specification:

- Essential: a qualification in a construction or maintenance-related discipline equivalent to or higher than HNC or similar subject; or equivalent experience
- Preferable: a member or working towards full membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or Chartered Institute of Building, or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years` experience of managing maintenance contractors

- Minimum 5 years` experience in the maintenance of buildings and services
