Position: Intervention Specialist (i.e. Drama/ Art Therapist, Sports Psychologist, Counsellor, CBT therapist etc)

Hours: Full Time (Part-time and term time only options will be considered), initially Fixed Term for 1 year with possibility of permanent role afterwards.

Up to £24,000 + 38 days holiday per year and clinical training.

This role is primarily focussed on the design and delivery of both short-term and long-term interventions for children and young people aged 4-18 and their families. You will be supported to lead other team members to create, develop and manage interventions. To ensure the support you offer is holistic you will also work closely with the young person's family, school, community and other professionals. Part of your role will be to support specific families who have a family member with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This specific intervention is designed around a unique psychological model for supporting those with ASD to be successful in school. The role of Intervention Specialist will give you an opportunity to take a lead role within an award winning psychology service with children facing a wide range of issues including those with ASD.

- You will have experience of working with young people with ASD, and their families.
- You must be able to empathise with the unique challenges of ASD and be motivated to work with young people, especially those with ASD traits that sometimes appear distant or disinterested.
- You will need to demonstrate examples of where you have been a positive and persuasive presence in the life of a young person with ASD.
- You will be able to communicate clearly to both a child with ASD, as well as their parents/foster carers.
- You will be required to work within the young person's home, their community, and at the young person's school.
- Some of the families you will be working will have complex living situations, and may be open to social services. You will be a key point of stability in the lives of these families, and you need to present with a calm and composed manner.
- As part of this role, you may be involved in the transition of a young person into a new school, or you may be asked to support the school to develop and implement behaviour management strategies to ensure success of the placement.
- You will be required to oversee the working of interventions, and the implementation of evidence based protocols for working with young people.
- You will be required to lead planning meetings, create both long term and short-term plans, and demonstrate a system for tracking changes.
- You will receive supervision, case relevant peer support and training to deliver these interventions. It is essential however, that you already have experience and training related to working with children with ASD and working with families.
