Learning Manager - Construction

Salary: up to £41,000 depending on experience

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Status: Fixed term for 1 year

An exciting opportunity has arisen to manage the Construction department within City College Southampton.

The department consists of a variety of smaller teams which cover the majority of trades and some professions within the industry. We have outstanding facilities and great links to local employers and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will ideally have a background in the construction industry either trade or professional although this is not essential as it is more important that management skills are strong. They must have experience of teaching or managing both Further and Higher Education provision, be a champion for excellent teaching and learning within the department, committed to securing good or outstanding outcomes for students and developing the strong relationships with key stakeholders. It is vital that the candidate has a track record in turning departments around and getting success rates to national averages or above.

Working from our St Marys site, your role will focus primarily on leading a team of dedicated teachers and technicians. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the day to day running of the teams and engaging with local employers and other stakeholders.

While this post is suitable for someone considering their first college management post, applicants must already have demonstrated and be able to evidence leadership potential in their current post. Candidates with experience of leading a team will be required to evidence a successful track record in achieving positive outcomes for students through a team

You will be able to work as part of the team or individually and have good interpersonal skills.

The salary offered is up to £41,000 plus pension, 39 days annual leave and statutory bank holidays. The salary is dependent on experience and negotiable for the right candidate.

The application closing date is Thursday 20th July 2017 with interviews being held on Wednesday 26th July 2017. If applying, please ensure you can make yourself available on this date.

We are only able to contact you if you are shortlisted for interview, and we will do this via e-mail so please ensure we have your accurate contact details when registering.
