Assistant Hall Manager / Residence Manager / Property Manager

Our client is seeking an organised and motivated Assistant Property Manager / Residence Manager to help in the management of the day to day operations of a luxury student accommodation. As an Assistant Property Manager / Residence Manager you will be responsible for assisting in the overall running of the development, the best possible customer care, achieve and maintain the highest standards and compliance of the residence in accordance with legislation, procedures and best practice, provide and maximize rental income whilst helping manage operational costs.

The Assistant Manager role will form part of a 2 year development programme ultimately leading to a Residence Manager position for successful candidates. The programme will include on the job and external training. The role will be expected, over time, to be involved in all aspects of the management of the residence and will also take the role of acting Residence Manager during the periods when the Residence Manager is absent, and is likely to temporarily take this role at other residences in similar circumstances.

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate and possesses a strong desire to succeed and ideally from a retail management or hospitality management background. The key aspects of the role are around; customer service, Health & Safety, financial, HR, sales & marketing and building maintenance. You will need to be extremely service focused and have the ability to deal with all kinds of people from students to building maintenance staff but most of all be able to handle a variety of tasks related to the day to day management of a busy luxury student residence.

Assistant Hall Manager Responsibilities

*Help to manage the sales and marketing of the residence, striving for 100% occupancy with Nil voids each year.
*Ensure robust debt collecting procedures are followed, with a target of £Nil rental debt every academic year
*Direct responsibility for the financial performance of the residence with the objective of achieving an annual income & operating expenditure better than budget
*Events management - Organise and manage residence social events and oversee and support local implementation of centrally planned events.
*Provide support to centrally planned marketing campaigns.
*Maintain health and safety compliance across all aspects of the residence
*Manage and maintain the property, the student apartments and any communal areas and spaces to ensure the required standards are always met.
*Procure goods and services necessary for the ongoing maintenance, upkeep and compliance of the residence
*Maintain close links with the local Universities and other educational institutions
*Recruit and maintain the on-site accommodation team as may be required, including any office staff, security / maintenance staff and cleaning staff

What are we looking for?

* An interest in events would be an advantage
* A personable character with exceptional customer service skills
* Be extremely organised and have the ability to multi-task
* Supervisory or management experience and advantage but not essential
* High standards
* Understanding of Health & Safety preferable but not essential as training will be given
* Strong communication skills

Working Hours

Working hours - 3 shift patterns Mon-Fri: 7am-4pm / 11am-8pm / 2pm-11pm (only 1-2 of these per week) and 1 in 3 Saturdays (no Sundays).
