Employability Tutor (Placements)
Hired@UCB provides careers, employability and work placement services to our students and we currently have a vacancy for an Employability Tutor (Placements) to support students on our Catering and Hospitality programmes.
The role of the Employability Tutor is to support students to gain valuable work experience and to further develop their employability skills. Focusing on the Catering and Hospitality programmes within the College of Food you will organise short term work experience placements across the industry. You will liaise with chefs, hotel managers and restaurant owners in order to set up and manage catering and hospitality requirements. You will support staff and students through pre-placement sessions, match students to placement opportunities and co-ordinate the staff support for students whilst on placement to maintain standards and monitor progress.
You will enhance graduate enterprise skills such as networking, self-promotion, creating CVs and portfolios. You will develop new work experience opportunities with employers as well as maintain existing employer links and liaise with industry professionals to facilitate educational talks and employment opportunities.
You will develop strong links with UCB Schools and Departments regarding the service as well as support with open days and promote the University through a variety of mediums.
The successful candidate will have knowledge, skills and experience relevant to our Catering and Hospitality programmes. In addition, candidates will ideally have knowledge and experience of employability and work placement support needed for new recruits into the sector. You will have excellent communication and organisation skills, the ability to work with a diverse range of clients, and proficiency in administration and the use of IT. In order to be successful in this application, you will possess a minimum level 5 qualification, preferably in a field relevant to the post.
Flexibility and a willingness to conduct placement visits to the employers’ premises as required are essential.
