Electrical Systems Engineer
Our client are a radical and innovative company. Their vision is to systematically pursue the elimination of the environmental impact of personal transport - a bold proposition for personal transport. They are developing a hydrogen electric vehicle, coupled with a unique infrastructure strategy and ownership arrangement, allowing them to provide sustainable personal mobility at no more cost than a standard small car.
They are now expanding their team to create a production prototype. This vehicle will be a robust, purposeful and serious statement of their principles and intent, destined for agreed pilot trials in both rural and urban markets in the UK.
Their headquarters are in the inspirational and unspoilt rural area of Llandrindod Wells.
You will be responsible for the design, integration and test of:
Automotive electric power and distribution architectures, systems and sub-systems
Integrated +12V Power Distribution System (including Body Systems Controller ECU)
Vehicle Wiring Looms
Low Voltage DC-DC Converter
You must be able to provide completed EV + electric power and distribution system hardware designs over the complete hardware design lifecycle.
You will be required to manage sub-contract hardware development where applicable. You will provide documentation such as Drawings, Requirement Specifications, Test Specifications and project reports.
You will have a keen interest in automotive design and experience in vehicle +12V systems.
Proven track record of developing hardware to automotive standards.
Experience with designing automotive electrical systems to meet current regulations mandatory.
Experience with Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow model based design and auto-coding is desirable.
Experience in an engineering hardware development role.
Hardware design experience to include embedded control, serial communications (CAN, RS-485), power distribution networks, LV DC-DC Converters and transducer interfacing.
Experience of model-based design principles and HIL testing.
Able to demonstrate the achievement of robustness by design of simple, elegant hardware.
Must be familiar with DFT, DFM and EMC requirements
Experience of human machine interface hardware and open source environments is essential.
Previous experience within an Aerospace/Automotive/Transport environment an advantage.
This is a highly technical role in a relatively new field requiring a detail orientated, confident and creative, self-starter.
Must be curious, open and transparent

Capable of working as part of a multi-disciplinary development team
Have excellent problem solving and sharing skills
