Our Legal and Compliance team helps to ensure that Triodos Bank UK adheres to all applicable laws and regulations and safeguards customers' interests. The team have a wide range of roles and responsibilities, which include developing and maintaining the compliance framework; identifying, mitigating and monitoring risks, providing guidance and query resolution for the business, and preventing the Bank from being used for financial crime; including fraud, money laundering and terrorist financing.

We are pleased to be recruiting for the role of Financial Crime Officer on a part-time basis on 3 days per week. Reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance, with a responsibility to ensure the business adheres to regulatory requirements in relation to the prevention of financial crime. Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Processing to conclusion Suspicious Activity Reports received from co-workers and providing guidance on financial crime related queries from co-workers
  • Assisting in the continual development of the financial crime framework; to include anti-money laundering, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, countering terrorist financing, market abuse and fraud
  • The proactive development and delivery of continual education and training to the business on technical areas with the specialism in Financial Crime (Customer Due Diligence (CDD), terrorist financing, and fraud)
  • Developing and maintaining the branch’s Financial Crime policies and procedures with focus on those impacting the prevention of financial crime, including coordination and influence with Group policies
  • Assisting the first line control function with a continual assessment programme of the UK fraud and AML monitoring parameters to ensure the alert generation remains appropriate and effective for the UK current risk profile of products, services and customers
  • Ensuring anti-financial crime knowledge remains up-to-date, chiefly through reading, but some ad-hoc seminar attendance may be required
  • Providing guidance to local functions on prevention of financial crime, following up any concerns to deliver effective mitigation of the regulatory risk
  • Assessing the level of risk and, in conjunction with the Head of Legal and Compliance, delivering judgement in relation to the prevention of financial crime, also anticipating risks and where appropriate challenging the business, so that innovative and clear solutions are achieved
  • Producing required reports and action plans for the UK Head of Legal & Compliance including those for Core Management Team and Group Compliance such as MLRO reporting and assessments. Plus external reporting, as required, to FFA UK and CIFAS
  • Project Management of Legal and Compliance led Financial Crime Projects
  • Complete and report on second line financial crime related Compliance monitoring (including QA on Customer Due Diligence processes performed by the first line)

You will have experience gained in a financial crime compliance related role within financial services would be required; desirably relating to banking, savings and investment products. A knowledge of the UK financial sector regulators and UK / European regulations including, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), UK anti money laundering (AML) regulations, terrorist financing, and more general compliance matters. A compliance qualification would be preferable. In return for your commitment and hard work, you will receive a competitive basic of up to £35,000 (pro rata) depending experience, plus a benefits package including:
