Are you a passionate and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist who is looking to join our multidisciplinary team at Fairview Hospital?

Hours: 40, Monday to Friday

Location: Fairview Hospital, Boxted Road, Mile End, Colchester, Essex, CO4 5HF

Fairview Hospital is a specialist service for men and women with learning disabilities and other complex needs such as autism, personality disorder, mental health conditions, forensic histories and challenging behaviours. The hospital benefits from a fully equipped activity centre both on and off-site so that opportunities for rehabilitation are maximised.

You will receive full support from our onsite multidisciplinary team and routine service meetings with companywide Speech and Language Therapists, contributing to service development. Holiday entitlement is 25 days + Bank Holidays with increments for each year of service.

The Opportunity

As a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), you will work with a range of individuals to maximise their potential and to enable them to enjoy the best possible quality of life. You will receive full support and supervision from an onsite Highly Specialist SLT and work closely with individuals to assess communication needs in a range of environments and provide functional targets and recommendations to aid day-to-day communicative success.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and support the implementation of the therapeutic approach, responding to referrals and maintaining a total communication environment. You will ensure audits are completed and the RCSLT 5 good communication standards are utilised.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate for this role will have a degree or a postgraduate diploma in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent) and be registered with (or soon to be) the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). This post would suit a newly qualified SLT who has exceptional interpersonal skills and is committed to making a positive difference. Some experience working with individuals that have Learning Disabilities and/or other complex needs is beneficial.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
