I am searching for a confident sales person with a mechanical engineering background to work on a full time permanent basis, for a client who is based in Colchester Essex.

The role will be to provide support to the Sales Manager in all aspects of sales and selling high pressure air compressors and spare parts into the UK market.

Normal working hours: 0830 – 1700 Daily with 1 hour for lunch
Salary £25,000-30,000 (depending on experience)

The ideal candidate:

• Should have an engineering background with training to ONC /HNC/ NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.

• Should also have some formal business/sales training or experience of working within a sales/telesales environment.

• Be self motivated, confident and willing to assist in all aspects of the business if required.

• Friendly and polite manner being able to converse on the telephone with all levels including senior management.

• Be customer orientated to ensure that their requests are dealt with in a professional manner.

• Be able to use a computer to a good level and operate Microsoft office programmes such as word, excel, etc.

• Car owner and have a clean UK driving Licence.

• Be able to work on his / her own initiative in a small office environment.


The role will be predominantly office based but may involve some travelling in the UK and Ireland as necessary to do the job. Occasional travel may be required overseas for training purposes or to support the German company.

Duties to include:

• Communication with the customer base both existing and new to discuss sales aspects both commercially and technically for new compressor business. This will involve providing quotations for sales related jobs and follow through to order and ensure customer satisfaction.

• Building strong relationships with potential new industrial clients in the UK market.

• Communication with the German HQ for engineering queries (or technical persons within UK) to discuss some special customer requirements in respect to new compressor sales in the UK.

• Use own technical knowledge pro- actively to promote the technical aspects / benefits of company products to win the sale.

• Provide monthly business reports to the UK Sales Manager for projects being quoted and worked on.

• Provide visit reports after all sales visits to the UK ales Manger.

• Liaise with our “UK Sales & Service Partners” to ensure common goals for achieving greater sales for the company.

• To be prepared to investigate and produce various new systems within the sales environment for both new compressors and spares for the better functioning of the Sauer UK office in collaboration with the Sales Manager.

• Occasionally attend and support setting up exhibitions for the sales of new products or spares as required by the UK Sales Manager.

• As and when necessary provide support to other team members within the office.
