Senior Support Technician

Our client, a well-established legal firm based in the heart of Edinburgh city centre is on the lookout for a Senior Support Technician (DevOps Engineer) for their Edinburgh offices. The successful will Working closely with on and offsite development teams and provide 2nd and 3rd level development support to all systems.

The role

• Support Operations Teams in ensuring the smooth functioning of applications and other server systems
• Support all internally developed application to 3rd line technical support standard.
• Facilitate technical and business operations knowledge transfer to the Systems Team, including documentation of systems architecture, operations and technical support standard operating practices
• Improve the technical function and service via:
• Facilitate the knowledge transfer and documentation
• Facilitate technical innovation and improvement of the current technical stacks, support and delivery methods
• Liaise with Systems Administrators to identify repeating incidents and escalate in the Problem Management log.

Technical background

• Experience in a technical support and design role
• 2 years’ experience providing 3rd level support role
• Experience of SaaS
• Experience in administration of IIS with .NET application connectivity.
• Proven experience in administration of Apache with Tomcat and Java application connectivity
• Experience in administration of Web Server connectivity to Oracle or MS SQL Databases
• VMWare administration skills
• Scripting (Perl, Python or Shell)
• IT Security practises (Firewall Technologies, encryption protocols, server build hardening)
• Windows and Linux Operating Systems administration skills
• Networking Skills including LAN / WAN and Internet
• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, LDAP experience
