A new vacancy has arisen within my client's Laboratory team, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Laboratory Technician to assist with the testing of the product. The client is a world leader in automotive parts manufacture, based on the outskirts of Portsmouth and this is a full-time, permanent position.

The post will report to the Laboratory Manager, and the main duties will include:

* To ensure that tests are conducted to either the company's, customers or legal requirements. Must be able to read and understand detailed customer test specifications.
* Support other laboratory team members to meeting agreed deadlines. Ensure that routine conformance of production (COP) testing is conducted and completed on to plan.
* Issue clear and reasoned reports with supporting data/evidence in the company approved format. Ensure that test progress is updated daily during testing and data is easily retrievable.
* Represent the laboratory for both internal and external customers regarding test requirements, method and results.
* Once proficient train others in laboratory methods, equipment usage and assist in documenting test procedures.
* Assist with the development of new tests and test equipment.
* Assist with the development and implementation of Total Prevention maintenance (TPM) to ensure laboratory equipment is operating correctly and is checked according the plan.

You will have the following skills:

* Previous experience of working within a test or laboratory environment
* Excellent Computer Competence, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word),
* Good knowledge of engineering first principles
* Electrical & Electronic principles
* Hands on practical skills
* Good communication skills
* Proven problem solving abilities
* Flexible approach to working offsite and/or outside of normal day shift hours as required
