Change Public Practice are recruiting on behalf of a well-known and respected Accountancy firm based in Edinburgh City Centre who are keen to appoint a Junior Accounts Assistant to join their team. This opportunity will suit a professional individual who has worked within an accountancy firm environment for at least 12 months, and who is keen to progress their career within Practice. Due to the size of this independent business, you will gain exposure to a wide range of general practice duties and will be supported through a professional qualification.

Key responsibilities within this role:

· Provide bookkeeping support to a variety of clients including writing cheques, making BACS payments, processing sales and purchase invoices, reconciling bank either on Sage or Xero
· Prepare and submit monthly & quarterly VAT returns
· Production of monthly & quarterly management accounts with commentary
· Proofing accounts, including casting and agreeing to prior years
· Posting client trial balances to our accounting software

Skills and attributes to be considered:
· At least 12 months’ experience gained within an accountancy firm is essential
· Strong technical ability
· Proficient working knowledge of Sage, Xero or similar accounting software is required
· Ability to work well under pressure to meet regular deadlines
· Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
