Do you enjoy working with cutting edge open source technology such as CEPH and Openstack? Would you like access to an amazing range of technologies including Logstash, Elasticsearch and various hardware (SGI, HP and Cisco)? Are you passionate about Linux software and looking to develop your skills further? Would you like the opportunity to work for the most successful cloud and hosting provider in the UK? If so, we may have a place for you at UKFast!

What’s the role all about?

Working at UKFast you’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the internet’s most exciting businesses on a day to day basis. We're primarily a RHEL/CentOS shop, but we also mix it up a bit with some Debian, both bare metal and VMware. Outside of the office we're known to be arch, Gentoo and RasPi fans, and we provide resources for a couple of very popular open source projects.

What will my responsibilities be?

We are primarily about ensuring clients get a good service
Helping to engineer high availability in solutions, through applying specific tuning, load testing and even full DR platforms – whether it is for a simple web cluster to a much more niche bespoke solution.
Responsible for maintaining and progressing our own infrastructure. We use Python, Perl and even some Go for good measure.

What skills do I need to have?

We want to hear all about the cool, interesting or complex problems you've had to solve, particularly if you've got an RHCE/LPIC-2/3 qualification or have a good background in networking. We'll be looking for debugging skills and creative thinking and we would love you to showcase your ugly hacks and one-liners that make your console line wrap. What we require:
Webservers (apache and nginx most commonly)
RHCE/LPIC-2/3 qualification
Database servers (MySQL and related forks)
High availability (heartbeat/pacemaker and Red Hat Cluster Suite)
High performance (varnish)

What are my working hours?
This role will cover a shift pattern: Monday- Friday between 7am and 7pm eg 7-4/8-5/9-6
