Automation Process Engineer
A new position has arisen within the production engineering department for an Automation Engineer to join the team. This engineer will be responsible for identifying products and process candidates for full or semi-automatic/robotised manufacturing and test within our assembly area. The items to be manufactured are small to medium batch sizes of small electro-mechanical instruments.

It is expected that the engineer will have prior experience with design and implementation of automation projects in a similar environment and will be able to identify, cost justify, design and implement projects.

Automation projects will be fully integrated in to our ERP and WIP data capture systems with self-monitoring and reporting of quality and output as part of each implementation.

The engineer will also be involved with new product introduction by providing design for manufacture input.

Job Responsibilities
• Identifying, designing and implementing automation projects in the assembly area.
• Identifying production process candidates for full or semi-automation project and producing cost justification and implementation plans.
• Review and deskill existing production processes.
• Assist with the implementation of new processes, produce training documentation and train production staff.
• Capture data for process improvement and ERP systems.
• Identify and implement manufacturing and test methods to introduce new products.

Key Requirements
• HNC level or higher in electrical/electronic engineering or robotics.
• Experience in the design of automated process and test equipment.
• Knowledge of assembly and test processes.
• Experience of process improvement techniques

• BSC or higher in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Knowledge of electromechanical assembly, automated assembly and test.
• Experience using ERP manufacturing systems.

This position is not suitable for a person who has allergies to materials such as glue, resins, oils, grease and hydraulic fluids. The role involves working with magnets or being in and around magnetic fields, working in confined spaces and heavy lifting.

• Salary £32,000 to £37,000 (offer made dependent on experience)
• Full time, permanent 37.5 hours (Mon- Thur 8-4:30 and Fri 8-1:30)
