Wembley

Salary up to £50,000 plus an amazing benefits package depending on experience.

Our client a muliple award winning construction company requires an experienced Buyer to join their Housing Division based at their HQ in Wembley.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Buying Team provides Group-wide services. Reporting directly to the Chief Buyer, who is based at the Head Office in Wembley, you will provide day to day support to the Purchasing function of the housing Division.

An excellent negotiator, an amiable character and good organisation skills will increase this candidate’s responsibilities and accountability. The individual must be confident in working as part of a team with changing/developing duties within a shared office environment. The job holder will be expected to produce high quality outputs, able to work unsupervised, and help this very busy Regional Office to meet its targets and deadlines on a daily basis.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS/ DUTIES

Initial duties will include, but will not be limited to:

•Liaise with the Technical & Surveying Team to provide prices to the Project Surveyor for materials associated with a particular tender or project, to assist with formation of budgets.

•Compiling tender enquiries including scheduling works and checking specifications

•Analysing quotations and putting together cost quotations and analyses

•Obtaining prices for materials, and the subsequent purchasing of materials for secured developments for the Housing Division ensuring compliance with Group frameworks and price agreements.

•Providing relevant information to Senior Management to enable commercial decisions to take place.

•Keeping detailed records and maintaining a well organised work schedule.

•The Purchase Ordering Process uses our COINS ERP finance system for the administration, collating of information and reporting of all materials purchasing

•Undertake any ad-hoc duties as may be required within the Purchasing function

KEY REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE

•Experience as a Materials Buyer for a Residential Housing Developer.

•Ability to work quickly and to tight deadlines

•Ability to work alone with limited supervision

•Communicate effectively and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues and customers.

•Computer literacy is essential

•Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook

•Previous experience using COINS or other finance systems is not essential but would be beneficial

•Excellent interpersonal skills

BENEFITS/ DETAILS

37.5 hour week. Monday - Thursday, 09.00am to 5.30pm (1 hour lunch). Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm (½ hour lunch). However, you may be required to work extra hours at busy times.

•26* days holiday. Please note, there is an annual 2 week Christmas shutdown, staff are required to hold 7 days from their entitlement

(*Plus Statutory Bank Holidays, usually 8 days)

•Staff car park available at our Wembley Office

•Starting salary is dependent upon knowledge and experience within a similar role. Salary will be in line with similar industry standards.
