Randstad are proud to support a popular local employer, with a global engineering presence, in the recruitment of a new position as a Shift Production Leader for one of their most successful divisions.

This role requires you to manage the Shift Operations Teams to ensure that production runs safely and efficiently with a strong focus on quality and performance management.

We are looking for candidates who are:

* Focused on HSE policies as essential disciplines in managing shift performance
* motivated by managing and developing their shift personnel and have strong leadership skills
* experienced as a Shift Leader in a Lean Manufacturing Industrial environment
* able to provide a track record of improving productivity.
* experienced in implementing 6 Sigma and 5S principles.
* capable of communicating on all levels
* competent in the use of IT

Main responsibilities:

* Proactively manage health and safety and promote safe working practices to ensure the health and well-being of all staff and compliance with all statutory requirements.
* Monitor productivity of Shift team and ensure that Shift Operators are deployed effectively to complete the required tasks.
* Mobilise Shift production teams to ensure that customer orders are produced on time and to customer specifications.
* Interpret the production plan and prioritise resources to deliver the plan on time and in full and update labour resource plan..
* Liaise with out-going and in-coming Shift Production Leaders and Maintenance Technicians to ensure safe and smooth hand-over of duties, identifying any amendments to work-schedules and highlighting any problems that need attention.
* Prioritise work requirements from the Engineering shift team and where necessary, call out engineering support
* To act upon any breaches of discipline following disciplinary procedures with authority to issue verbal warnings and bring disciplinary matters to the attention of the Line Manager.
* Perform 'Return To Work' interviews and complete performance reviews, working with the training department to ensure that employee training/development plans are completed on time. Report on KPIs and corrective action plans.
* Ensure product quality though effective quality management systems, procedures and Standard Working Procedures.
* Ensure best practice in workplace organisation and housekeeping, applying 5S principles and perform monthly 5S audits and update the relevant 5S boards.

You will:

* Hold a HND/HNC in an engineering discipline or equivalent
