Maintenance Team Leader

Summary of Position
Our client are a Tier one manufacturing company producing parts for the Automotive sector. They are looking to bring on a Maintenance Team Leader/coordinator on a permanent day shift basis. To Co-ordinate the initial response of the Maintenance department to quickly and effectively deliver solutions to machine or service issues effecting the delivery of the business plan; to control Maintenance budget and deliver KPI’s in a timely and efficient manner.

Core Responsibilities
• Ensure the team reacts quickly and effectively to resolve production issues.
• Ensure the correct level of resource is available to deliver a 24 hr emergency response for breakdowns.
• Ensure the team has the skills to deliver fast effective repairs.
• Owns the skills matrices for all Maintenance personnel; to identify, control and support training requirements in conjunction with the HR department to develop a multi-skilled team approach.
• Ensure the spare parts are available to deliver fast effective repairs.
• Determines and controls critical stock levels according to business needs and requirements. Ensure all work requests are recorded (CMMS).
• Improve supplier response times to deliver fast effective repairs.
• Effectively communicate priorities between shifts. (Formalize the handovers).
• Ensure all incomplete work request are follow-up and completed on time to improve customer satisfaction.
• Generate the weekly fix it faster KPI and review with the manager to drive improvement.
• Manages the Lost Time Analysis on machine reliability. Will identify action plans for improvement as appropriate
• Controls and reports levels of Maintenance spend; to identify areas for potential cost reduction and follow up as appropriate.
• Acknowledge customer work requests and report progress (via the CMMS).
• Effectively manage and develop the reactive approach for the business. Progressively improve breakdown repair times, reporting the performance/status of machines in a timely manner and identify areas for improvement
• Conduct regular reviews via the company PDP and “one-to-one” processes and measure personnel performance accordingly, taking appropriate actions to ensure optimised team performance as necessary.
• To be available for assistance and support with complex breakdowns; to delegate tasks effectively
• Supports projects on an ad hoc basis, as and when required to do so, against required timescales and specific budget parameters
• To identify and report KPIs on all identified measures as requested; attend business unit and PVD meetings
• To ensure that all work is in line with TS 16949 requirements
• To support a safe working environment, considering Company procedures and current legislation, taking an active role in the risk assessment process. Develop best practice maintenance methods / processes and work with closely other maintenance functions to standardise across site
• Operates in a manner that satisfies the requirement for confidentiality in the performance of duties, including all data being handled and stored with due regard to confidentiality
• Functional responsibility for delegation of tasks / workload / direction to Maintenance personnel, in line with local production supervision to determine priorities for the department (Local supervision to retain operational responsibility for the maintenance team in terms of priority, especially in out-of-hours circumstances).
• Manage disciplinary procedure up to written warning stage (including managing attendance)
• Leading the reactive maintenance team and setting objectives
• Providing support to his/her team to ensure the achievement of tasks and targets, and to support ad hoc exercises.
