Quality Engineer – Precision Engineering Business
Huddersfield/Wakefield
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 + benefits
A leading global manufacturer of Precision Engineered products is looking to recruit a Quality Engineer into their well-established team in West Yorkshire

THE ROLE
As Quality Engineer you will be a key part of the Quality team and will be working closely with a number of key stakeholders in Design/R&D, Engineering, Production, Procurement and Supply Chain.
• You will manage the quality processes from ‘cradle to grave’ with a mixture of QA and QC activities
• You will be working closely with the production team to audit their processes and help them to reduce waste and non-conformance.
• You will play an active role in auditing suppliers and aiding the purchasing team in supplier selection
• Work closely the engineering team to carry out PFMEA activity
• You will be responsible for carrying out NCR’s using 7 step, 5Y or 8D methodology
• Ensure regular internal audits are conducted with a focus on driving improvement
• Lead continuous improvement activity focusing on reducing the scrap rate and repair rate and reducing the Cost of Poor Quality

THE PERSON
This is ideally suited to a Quality Engineer with exposure to the precision engineering, oil & gas, special purpose machinery or welding & fabrication. With a strong focus of the role being on proactive quality management this role is well suited to Quality Engineers well versed in PFMEA and with a proactive approach. Whilst you do not need to be an expert in the product you will need to have an understanding of how the manufacturing process will affect the quality performance. As this is a growing and innovative business, this role is ideally suited to candidates who are ambitious and keen to grow with the business.
Final, as this role is an end-to-end role it is best suited to candidates who enjoy variety and are comfortable dealing with customers, suppliers and internal quality. As the role is a mixture of QA and QC you will have experience auditing and within assembly and testing.
