Cooper Lomaz are working with a market leader in their chosen field as they recruit a Financial Controller to oversee their EMEA operations. This newly created role will form part of the Management team and will manage the day to day finance function, with 7 direct reports that are responsible for overseeing multiple entities across the EMEA region. This high profile position will require a technically minded accountant with experience of European Accounting & Tax reporting as well as a people manager who can drive high quality financial reports on a monthly basis as well as developing the finance function's capability.

As Financial Controller you will encourage best practices across the team, ensuring that all reports produced are compliant with local GAAP policies as well as US GAAP standards. It is expected that the role will also take responsibility for the implementation of financial reporting systems to streamline current reporting processes to allow the team to meet demanding Group reporting deadlines. The Financial Controller will also manage all transactional functions to ensure that the General Ledger is maintained to a high standard.

Other key responsibilities within the role will include:
- Support European Tax submissions and VAT returns
- Create strong working relationships with European leads and ensure they have the financial information they need to support business decisions
- Review of cost centre spend and make recommendations for improvements to drive efficiencies
- Act as the Technical Accounting expert for Finance and be the point of contract for all accounting queries

The successful candidate will ideally be a fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) and will have prior experience working within a similar European facing role. Candidates will need to demonstrate an excellent technical accounting background/understanding that will include Tax reporting, VAT and US GAAP. A proven track record in delivering sound financial reports to demanding deadlines is also a must combined with the ability to develop and mentor a team of part and fully qualified accountants. Strong Excel and IT skills will also be key in delivering improvements to current processes and driving efficiencies.
