Following a recent internal promotion we are seeking a Motor P.I. Claims Team Leader. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a team of personal injury claims negotiators handling mostly UK non-marine claims. Maintaining the provision of high quality, cost effective claims handling service for mainly FTSE 500 companies, ensuring maintenance and development of relationships and implementation of best claims practice.

The successful applicant will:

Assist the development of the AXA Motor claims proposition.

Assist in the development of motor claims strategy ensuring delivery of best claims servicing practice.

Manage a personal portfolio of personal injury claims within a personal handling authority.

The role

Leading a highly expericened team, of circa 10 staff, the job holder will:

Ensure competent, efficient and innovative handling of claims of varying value and/or complexity within the jobholders authority, ensuring settlement on a timely basis to high technical standards and quality, balancing technical claims handling with commercial awareness. Handle large and/or complex claims personally. Handling of claims above job holder’s personal authority under the referral system. Managing all aspects including:

§ Legal and policy liability assessment

§ Estimating

§ Negotiation, settlement and defence including litigation management

Ensure compliance with and recommend considered revisions to departmental authority levels and application of the AXA Corporate Solutions claims philosophy and standards. Act as a referral point for team members; act as a professional role model for claims best practice.

Maintain, manage and enhance the motor client relationships to ensure claims controllers can respond to customer needs and provide a quality claims service. Ensure maintenance of accurate client relationship knowledge and disseminate to claims handlers.

Maintain good customer relationships and encourage profitable business retention and business acquisition through regular contacts with clients and brokers.

Manage the production of motor large loss reviews and ensure availability for client review meetings.

Assist in the development, maintenance and management of the relationship with key suppliers to the motor claims supply chain. This will include but not be limited to:

§ AXA Motor Engineering Services

§ Independent engineering services

§ Motor investigation and debt recovery agencies

§ Accident and fleet management companies

§ ULR and Credit hire providers

§ Panel solicitors

Develop the knowledge base of the MotorPersonal Injury team; identify new legal, insurance and market issues, reportingon their implications and recommending strategies for resolution. Initiate and assist in the development andimplementation of departmental training programmes resulting from changes inclaims handling practice.

Manage and develop the team, driving a culture of team work to achieve high standards of performance, quality of delivery and productivity.

Apply robust management practices within your team throughout the performance year as required.

Skills, knowledge and behaviour

Excellent knowledge and understanding of:

The principles of insurance including policy liability, terms and relevant clauses, including a basic knowledge of corporate risk transfer financial mechanisms and servicing structures.

Legal liability including relevant common law and legislation.

The legal process including litigation.

AXA Corporate Solutions’ products and capabilities.

Receiving claims notifications, assessing estimates and negotiating claims up to and including settlement within personal authority. Considering Third Party liabilities, detecting fraud and taking correct action to preserve and maximise recoveries.

Negotiating claims above personal authority under referral.

Instructing and controlling loss adjusters and solicitors and experts in connection with day
