Risk and Compliance Officer

This is a critical role in a fast-growing Supplier Finance fintech business operating in the SME space, and is an opportunity for a forward thinking and enthusiastic individual to shape the organisations approach to both risk and compliance.

As the Risk and Compliance Officer, you are responsible for ensuring our client has a fully operational enterprise risk framework, complies with its various legal obligations and internal policies, and helping to embed a risk and compliance culture across the organisation.

Responsibilities

These will include, but are not limited to:

  • Own the enterprise risk framework for the organisation
  • Perform risk assessments across a wide range of risk areas, including conduct risk, to understand the level, significance and scope of the risks within the organisation
  • Keep up to date with, and understand, relevant laws and regulations
  • Monitor compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies
  • Ensure that findings are recorded and followed up with management so that issues can be rectified
  • Educate employees on not only risks and the regulations but also the impact to the organisation if these are not dealt/complied with, and their role in the management of risk
  • Investigate irregularities and non-compliance issues
  • Report back to business functions on current risk and compliance performance
  • Highlight or escalate areas of concern
  • Contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organisation
  • Assist in the gathering of internal information in response to regulatory or stakeholder requests
  • Perform various general administrative duties (such as file creation and maintenance of ongoing administrative projects)
  • Collaborate with other departments to create a culture of risk awareness and compliance
  • Business continuity planning

Knowledge

These include, but are not limited to:

  • The requirements of the financial regulated environment in terms of operational risk management and compliance
  • Best practice and emerging trends
  • A broad range of different risk areas
  • The process of constructing, embedding and monitoring enterprise risk frameworks
  • Compliance monitoring systems
  • Reporting to senior management and other stakeholders

Skills

These include, but are not limited to:

Previous Experience

  • A similar role in an SME focussed financial services organisation

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified

  • Preference given to qualifications specific to Risk Management and Compliance, and degrees with an emphasis on numeracy or that rely on logical thought processes
