A Government funded technology investment initiative specific to future developments in industrial manufacturing are seeking a field based Innovation Lead. The role will have lead responsibility within the Emerging and Enabling Technologies sector for the specific areas of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (RAI) portfolio.

Commutable from: Fieldbased - London, Birmingham, Oxford, Bristol, Newbury, Swindon, Manchester, Liverpool, NATIONWIDE

Salary: £ 45,000 - £ 55,000 p.a. Plus Performance Related Bonus

The Role

As a member of a high-powered team of senior technologists you will be responsible for developing and implementing, with partners, the strategy for UK wealth creation in specific areas of RAI technology. The role will have shared responsibility within the Enabling Capabilities Team for this specific competence area, reporting to the Head of Enabling Capabilities.
Lead on specific aspects of strategy implementation; accelerating the growth of companies in the sector by helping them to develop and introduce new product, processes and services.
Working closely with relevant bodies - business, Government, academia, trade associations, standards and regulatory bodies etc. - in the area, to inform programme development and delivery, and build truly UK-Wide innovation programmes with significant ambition and delivery capability.
Stimulating the creation of the appropriate wider infrastructure for successful commercialisation of RAI technologies, including as appropriate, technology roadmaps, standards, input to future regulation, lead customers, and investments by others in skills and next generation science etc.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be degree educated in a relevant science, engineering or related discipline ideally with at least good honours, with evidence of continued learning.
Additional chartered membership or higher of appropriate professional bodies is highly desirable.
Experience in the following areas would be desirable; system verification, validation and certification; design and manufacturing of robotic systems; multi sensor integration, data fusion and perception; control systems for remotely controlled or unmanned system operation; cognitive systems; human-robot interaction; robot-robot interaction; dependability, longevity and safety; navigation; software systems, and architectures and tools

You will have a sound up to date and broad knowledge of RAI technologies (UK and globally). Experienced in exploiting RAI technologies commercially, through new product development, marketing and manufacturing. Some knowledge of the UK Government and wider stakeholder activities in RAI and related areas would be advantageous.

You will have experience of tracking project impacts and managing a portfolio of activities and investments. You will be experienced across technology fields and with a broad and up to date understanding in other technology areas.

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, whilst able to deliver operationally, with a high degree of organisational ability and strong attention to detail. Must be a self-starter, able to work unsupervised and capable of prioritising and multitasking to achieve deadlines. Strong communicator with excellent presentation skills and with the gravitas to hold an audience in your specialist area.
