Full-time * Grade G7 (£27,186 - £29,229) depending on experience.

The Harrow Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) & Leaving Care Team (LCT) has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the team and really help make a difference in young people's lives. Supporting care leavers to achieve positive outcomes by supporting them with health, education, employment, independent skills, contact and many other areas.

Harrow is one of London's smaller and most ethnically diverse boroughs and is one of the safest in which to work. It was one of the first Councils to create a new 'joined up' service for children and their families and is committed to delivering the five 'Every Child Matters' outcomes.

Harrow council has recently undergone a restructure, implementing a new operating model. The key components of this new model of assessing and providing support and services for vulnerable children, young people and their families are:
* A single point of contact with a multi-agency access team
* Integrated Support Teams
* Special Needs Services
* Targeted Services
* A Quality Assurance and Commissioning function
* A new Education Strategy and School Organisation model
* A Business Support model aligned with the Council's model

The UASC & Leaving Care Team (LCT) falls within the targeted services sector and manages the social care Pathway for young people leaving care, who have been previously looked after. Joining the UASC & Leaving Care Team, you will work with young people between the ages of 18 -24.

The Leaving care Team provides a high quality service to a varied and demanding client group and is committed to ensuring that every young person has the best possible support to make a successful transition to independence.

Due to the growing number of referrals, an opportunity has arisen within The Leaving Care Team for a Social Care Assistant post.

You should have proven experience in Children's Services. Knowledge of the Leaving Care Act 2000 and process is preferable but not essential, as training will be given.
