We are seeking an Assistant Buyer to join a prominent distribution business operating out its Manchester Global HQ. This company has a great reputation within the domestic business community and is widely recognised as a leading distributor of fragrance and cosmetic products into the high street and wholesale retail environments.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to join a close knit team as the business looks to further expand its buying capabilities in line with increased demand.

Working closely with a Senior Buyer you will support the achievement of key margin and stock targets working directly with an exciting brand portfolio and a range of fast moving traders.

You will ideally possess prior exposure to working within a fast-paced head office environment, within a retail or FMCG-led company, however, candidates will be selected based on a combination of attitude, work ethic and commercial exposure.

You will possess excellent organisation and communication skills, a high level of attention to detail and a strong appreciation of the importance of working to deadlines.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Assist in the production of regular buying plans and provide summary analysis for purchase decisions.
* Replenish stock using forecasting where possible.
* Collate and analyse system data in Excel so that monthly forecasts by product line can be produced by the Trading Director.
* Monitor supplier pricing on T200 sellers and flag up good buys.
* Calculate margins per fragrance item and understand the stock levels.
* Work with brand owners to establish delivery forecasts during peak periods.
* Work with brand owners to understand and communicate delays to sales/ buying.
* Review all forecasts regularly to ensure forecasts represent actual requirements.
* Regularly review retail prices in customer stores to monitor price differentiation amongst retailers and the impact on purchase costs.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Previous experience working as an Assistant Buyer or Buying Assistant.
* Solid, demonstrable understanding of Excel
* Being multilingual is advantageous but not essential

This role would suit a degree qualified candidate within a procurement or finance related subject, however, equivalent qualifications and/or work experience will be equally considered.
