Hackney is London's most diverse, dynamic neighbourhood. Reaching from the Square Mile to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, this is an area of rapid economic growth, particularly in technology, media, fashion and other creative industries. Hackney has more green spaces than any other inner London borough; some of the capital's finest schools; first class transport connections; excellent public services; and thriving arts, cultural and retail sectors. We seek people with ambition, creativity and commitment to ensure our economic growth provides benefits for everyone and creates opportunities to transform the lives of residents.

Hackney Council is looking for someone with great organisational skills to join our executive support team. Your role will be to support our senior leaders, enabling projects and services across the Council to run smoothly and efficiently. You will play an important part in helping us make Hackney a better place.

As Executive Support Officer you will lead a team of Executive Support Assistants, providing administrative support to Group Directors and Directors. You will act as an important interface, managing a range of stakeholders within the Council and externally. To thrive in this role, you will need to have good judgement and organisational knowledge.

We need someone with experience of managing and developing a team as you will line manage support assistants. You should bring substantial secretarial experience and be familiar with administration at a high level within a large, complex organisation. You should have a good understanding of the public sector and policies affecting local government.

We need someone who can manage projects to budget and on time. Who can prioritise competing workloads and remain flexible and level headed under pressure. You should be a confident communicator, able to delegate projects to senior officers on behalf of Directors as well as being able to draft reports and correspondence. You should be familiar with a range of IT packages, including Microsoft Project
