Our client is an independently owned business who are proud to be one of the leading Groundworks and Civil Engineering Contractors in the Essex area. Due to a continued period of growth we are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team at our clients offices on the outskirts of Colchester. You will be working alongside a small team of quantity surveyors and will report directly to the Surveying Director.

Ideally you will have a background in Groundworks although this is not essential. Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Preparing tender documents and cost planning
• Cost planning and control measurements including pricing of bill of quantities
• Applications for payment including agreement of clients’ variations and negotiations of final accounts

You must have proven experience of managing all costs relating to the project from the initial calculations to the final figures and you must be able to demonstrate your ability to contribute to the Company’s financial success.

At any one time, our client will have up to 15 sites in operation and works with some of the UK’s most established and respected house builders. Therefore, the ability to communicate and build relationships with people at all levels, from the men working down in a trench to senior representatives of our Clients’, is a fundamental requirement of this role.
