Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Case Worker Fixed Term - Esher
£28,591 per annum for 36 hours per week (full time). £14,295.50 per annum for 18 hours per week (part time).
Based at Esher Local Office, Elmbridge Civic Centre, High Street, Esher, KT10 9SD
Fixed term contract until 31st March 2018

An enhanced DBS ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children’s and Adults’ Barred List checks will be required for this role.
The postholder will need to be able to travel and attend meetings both within Surrey and on occasions outside Surrey.
About the Role
Our SEN Management Teams work with parents, schools and other professionals involved in the education of children and young people with Special Educational Needs. Case Workers carry significant responsibility for progressing individual cases in discussion with education colleagues and other agencies, such as Health Trusts and Social Services to produce Educational, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
This is a vital service and you will have a caring and discreet approach, as well as initiative, enthusiasm and flexibility. The role is essential to the delivery of a new way of working, including providing timely advice and guidance to families, children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).
Experience/knowledge of working with Special Educational Needs is essential. You will also have proven experience of using administrative systems with speed, efficiency and accuracy, especially when under pressure and working to tight deadlines; there is a high volume of work and you will need to be able to identify priorities for a wide range of tasks.
It is essential that you are able to work well as part of a team, and have a calm and sensitive approach in face-to-face meetings and telephone calls with parents/young people. You will need good communication skills to build and maintain positive relationships with parents, schools and other agencies.
