Infrastructure Team Manager - £35k – Newport

Looking to join a large, growing technology team?
Our client, a large organisation based in Newport are looking to add to their Infrastructure & Service Team.

Overview
You will need the skills to manage the service life cycle of the clients’ infrastructure, enabling the technology teams to offer products and services which are easy to operate, scale and secure.

This involves skills in areas such as service management, end user computing, mobile device management, server operating systems, storage area networks, virtualisation technologies, hosting and cloud services, IaaS, PaaS and networking technologies.

Progression Options
Day-to-day you will be responsible for managing the operation of new and existing infrastructure services, products and platforms.

As you progress with the organisation you will gain greater responsibility for day to day operations and reduced levels of supervision and direction.

Main Responsibilities:
• Where required lead and manage a team deployed across projects, platforms or infrastructure support and maintenance activities.

• Bring into service, operate, support, performance monitor, continually improve and decommission Infrastructure services, products and platforms to serve a variety of user needs;

• For the services, products and platforms supported:
- Manage incidents, requests, changes and problems
- Manage the configuration, availability, capacity, performance and cost;
- Drive continuous improvement activities

• Active participation in wider communities of practice, identifying good practices that can be shared with the wider team

• Share knowledge of tools and techniques, and collaborate to improve the capability of the team.

• Maintain consistency between development and production environments.

• Challenge existing processes in order to build agile and flexible platforms, services and products.

Key Skills required include;
Experience managing service desk teams of approx 10 infrastructure engineers supporting 3500 end users
Cisco

Storage & Server operating systems - (Windows Servers)
UNIX (AIX, LINUX)

SQL Server
