Food Retail Territory Managers (FRTM's) are responsible for servicing and managing a territory consisting of Food Retailers. FRTM's will work at the food retail store level and acts as a local Key Account Manager ensuring day to day contact with local HQ of customers. Success will be achieved by their ability to provide each store's personnel (and Building Service Contractor (BSC) staff where appropriate) with a prompt, personal, and reliable service, that meets the customers' needs to improve store standards.

Main Responsibilities:

•Provide food safety and hygiene support by servicing retail stores and utilising customer designed food safety review
•Completes food safety audits based on the customer’s required visit frequency (monthly or quarterly) and evaluates each department for compliance
•Provide retail store associates (and BSC staff where appropriate) with training on food safety, appearance (eg: wall charts) and current product use
•Maintain dispensing equipment in excellent working condition and install equipment as necessary
•Help retain existing customer business through excellent service
•Grow sales with existing customers stores, and BSC's where appropriate, from the account specific approved list by ensuring compliance to the agreed ECL product listing
•Develop and maintain personal relationships with staff from store and BSC at the store and regional levels
•Perform retail store surveys and food safety reviews as contracted with each customer
•Provide training to customers on procedures and Ecolab products
•Complete required account administration, including proper update of Customer Contact Records
•Execute plans for the territory by customer
•Report any competitor or off the shelf products used in store
•Utilise computer based and/or paper reports, phone, etc. to communicate with line manager
•Principle areas of expertise are: Ware washing; kitchen hygiene; food safety; building cleaning
•Become a CIEH Certified Food Safety Professional, Level 3, within 90 days of commencing the role, Level 4 within 6 months of commencing the role
•Perform Food Safety reviews in retail grocery stores utilising internal and customer-designed measurement tools
•Learn each customer's specific food safety & hygiene policies and procedures. Be able to train customer's staff on those procedures
•Be able to identify rogue products, and action, with store management
•Acts as a local Key Account Manager ensuring day to day contact with local HQ of customers
•Develop sales identifying emerging needs at the customers and offering the relevant ECL programs. Introduces new programs at customers bearing in mind gross margin improvement
•Prospects and acquires local chain customers
•Supports his Retail Account Manager colleagues and International Accounts Managers

Key Performance Indicators:

•Sales development (country & territory)
•Acquisition of new customers
•SLA delivery and use of FRS reporting tools
•Feedback from customers and colleagues (esp. Retail Account Managers & International Accounts Managers)

Knowledge, skills and experience:

•Preferably graduate level
•CIEH level 4 Food Safety Certificate or equivalent is an asset
•Strong customer relationship development experience
•Previous business to business sales experience
•Excellent communication skills
•Demonstrate problem solving and decision making skills in a fast paced environment
•Demonstrate organisation, prioritisation and follow-up skills
•Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
•Valid driver’s license
•Willingness to travel within a large territory with the occasional nights away from home
•PC skills including basic excel, powerpoint and word
