A great opportunity to provide regional support for a major trade union. 

UCU the University and College Union, is the largest trade union and professional association for lecturers, learning support staff, academic related staff, trainers, researchers and managers working in further and higher education in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Their 120,000 members are employed mainly in colleges of further education, universities, colleges of higher education, and in adult, prison and land-based education. 

Position: Regional Support Official 
Location: Leeds covering Yorkshire & Humberside 
Salary: £27,446 per annum (£45,744 per annum pro rata) 
Hours: Part-time 0.6 per week 
Benefits: Good working hours, generous annual leave entitlement and a pension scheme

About the role: 

They are looking for a Regional Support Official based in their Leeds office, to work as part of a team that covers Yorkshire & Humberside 

The main purpose of this role is to work as part of the team to provide advice and support to local branches, including training, advising and representing members on employment issues and negotiating with a range of employers in the post-compulsory education sector. You will also assist in ensuring the consistent implementation of UCU`s bargaining, campaigning and organising objectives and priorities. 

About you: 

You will need knowledge of the post-compulsory education sector; knowledge of bargaining with multiple employers and experience of trade union organising and representing individuals on a range of employment matters including disciplinary and grievance cases. With good interpersonal, negotiating and advocacy skills, you will also be committed to equality and diversity issues and able and willing to travel within the region.
