Elevation Accountancy & Finance are currently recruiting for a Financial Crime Officer for a forward-thinking business based in the heart of Sheffield to join their informal, yet professional team!

Working within a supportive environment; you will report into the Risk & Compliance Manager in this newly created role which will play a pivotal part in the next stage of their growth as a 21st century financial services company.

This is a FANTASTIC opportunity for a progressive individual wanting a challenging and rewarding role which will enable exposure to a wide variety of functions within the finance department.

Key duties & responsibilities:

* Assessing account applications flagged for review
* Undertake transaction monitoring, identifying any suspicious activity on accounts
* Assist in investigations into fraudulent applications and accounts
* Assist in the development of new anti-fraud measures
* Act as an internal liaison and point of consultation for financial-crime-related queries
* Act as an external liaison point for card issuer and agency banking partner, handling financial-crime-related contacts
* Handle indemnity requests from other financial institutions, e.g. banks
* Handle information requests from the police, regulators and other official bodies
* Handle, by exception, contact with customers affected by fraud
* Produce and present data reports when requested
* Administrate the dispute and charge-back process, tracking outcomes for disputed transactions
* Complete, submit and track suspicious activity reports
* Assist in the preparation of internal reports and management information to ensure financial crime is monitored and understood across the company

Skills & Experience required:

* Experience working to combat financial crime and fraud
* Strong organisational and administrative skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Understanding of cards and payments processes in financial services
* Understanding of disputes and charge-back processes


* Understanding of processes, regulations and guidelines in the following areas:
- JMLSG (joint money laundering steering group) guidelines
- Know Your Customer (KYC)
- Sanctions and counter-terrorist-financing (CTF)
