Our client, a large and well respected world-wide publisher, is seeking a Finance Analyst to join their team based in London.

This is an exciting opportunity and will be reporting into the Head of Commercial Affairs

Your duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Own the month end process for overheads, including monthly accruals as well as the retro accrual process, liaising with Group Finance
  • Manage and reconcile petty cash account
  • Run Title Profitability reports - an analysis of sales and cost of sale by title, which provide supporting information for the month-end accounts process
  • Monthly reporting to external parties for Mainstream
  • Monthly overhead reports prepared and distributed to cost centre owners
  • Assist theHOCA and Senior Financial Analyst with the preparation and compilation of budget and forecast data and management reports, specifically:
    • Liaising with Sales to reconcile and analyse actual and forecast sales data
    • Liaising with editorial to check title detail to publishing schedules
    • Preparing backlist, sell-on and non-trade analysis to assist building budgets/forecast by brand, genre or author
    • Updating cost of sales data and projected sales data
    • Assisting with the production of budget packs
  • Own the budgeting and forecasting for overheads
  • Review acquisition P&Ls for sign off by the HOCA, in conjunction with the Editorial and Sales departments
  • Assist with producing ad-hoc P&Ls for titles and authors as requested.
  • Prepare quarterly Royalty provision true-up exercise
  • Work with Inventory Manager on excess stock reviews

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • The ability to build good working relationships throughout the Group with both finance and non-finance colleagues
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral - with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial people
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to multitask and handle competing priorities
  • A strong team player with interpersonal sensitivity
  • An individual who uses their initiative and makes the most of opportunities
  • A 'can-do' attitude with a willingness to learn

Key Skills required:

  • Prior experience within an accounting role
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills - must have confident and thorough working knowledge of pivots, vlookups, and complex formulae
  • Strong report building skills
  • Previous experience using SAP and Business Objects is desirable
