£26,000 - £36,000 per annum DOE with excellent benefits

Ambridge Harris is working with our established client within the financial services insurance sector in order to recruit a Management Accountant. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Management Accountant is primarily responsible for the production of the management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments, financial analysis, journal entries, inter-company reconciliations and sales ledger account management.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for producing the management accounts for the UK Plc Board reports inclusive of visual presentations and narrative. Similarly, the Management Accountant will be responsible for the production of the management accounts reports relating to the UK Branch. The Management Accountant will also be responsible for providing valuable insight for the monthly Management Pack; Profit and Loss summary with narrative and visual presentation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead a team of Management Accounting staff taking responsibility for their work prioritisation, motivation, performance & productivity.
  • Ensure the company's actions are in line with the standards required by senior Finance staff, including, but not limited to: accounting standards, internal and Group requirements. Adherence to Group accounting deadlines
  • Adherence to internal accounting deadlines
  • Internal and external audit outcomes
  • Accuracy & timelines of company data input & validation
  • Validity & frequency of review of policies
  • Assist senior finance staff and other internal stakeholders develop the three-year business plan. This will be through the provision of the numbers, metrics and narrative required but also the development of robust business projections based on historical performance and agreed company goals.
  • Reconciliation of the balances & accounts under your control & action remedies for any discrepancies
  • Accuracy & timeliness of reconciliation

  • Cash Flow: regular analyse and report on the state of the Plc and Branch cash flow positions. Accuracy & timeliness of analysis

  • Assist in the preparation of the management accounts, and the population and analysis of reporting data and narrative for use in yearend accounts and monthly MI Packs. Accuracy & timeliness of reports
  • Appropriateness of any narrative provided
  • Monitoring: monitor the performance of the finance team in delivery of tasks against the prevailing SLAs.
  • Carry out all tasks in line with stipulated processes, procedures & authority limits.
  • Take responsibility for own learning needs & objectives, and those of the team. However, due to the oversight provided to the performance of finance staff, the Management Accountant will be expected to contribute ideas to how those staff can develop. Work closely with colleagues to progress knowledge & skills base.

Education & Experience:

  • Graduate in a relevant subject and qualified to at least CIMA/ACCA Intermediate (part-qualified) or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Good working knowledge of database extraction and MS Office applications.
  • Excellent numeracy & literacy skills with particular emphasis on MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Working towards full CIMA/ACCA qualification
  • Familiarity with other presentation programmes
