About the Role- Clinical Lead

As a Clinical Lead you will adopt a “hands on” approach, working with, and taking responsibility for, the Nursing and Care Assistant teams to apply the highest standards of modern and professional practice, ensuring that the home’s policies and procedures are followed along with relevant legislation, in ensuring that all the needs of the residents are individually catered for.

Key Responsibilities:


* Demonstrate both clinical, care and managerial leadership to a team of RGN Team leaders, Carers and ancillary staff as appropriate allowing an opportunity for all staff to communicate openly and positively.
* To provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence within the clinical/care areas of responsibility for residents, relatives and staff, providing assistance, advice and support at all times.
* Support and advise the Nursing Team Leaders to ensure that care delivery meets the residents’ identified needs. Including the provision of supervision.
* Organise, formulate agendas for and hold regular staff meetings with all staff in line with the Home’s Meetings policy.
* Assist the Registered Manager with staff training, supervisions and appraisals.
* Ensure all new staff are given a full induction programme and assist the Registered Manager in supporting these individuals during their induction period.
* Be aware of educational needs of staff, communicate these needs to the Registered Manager and take every opportunity to assist in seeing that these needs are met, so that all staff have appropriate skills and knowledge to deliver competent and timely resident care.
* Pass on skills and knowledge with colleagues via supervision and mentoring, in line with own individual competencies.


* Have a good knowledge of safeguarding, DOLS and Mental Capacity Act and is able to put this knowledge into practice, guide others and seek guidance and support as required
* To ensure that the clinical/care needs of the Home meet required fundamental standards.
* Ensure the safe delivery of nursing care, maximising nursing and other resources
* To assist residents with those activities which they would usually perform or have in the past performed themselves but cannot now without assistance. The optimum level of independence should be encouraged and supported whilst managing the dignity and self-esteem of the residents.
* Organise the implementation of the planned programme of care as set out in the individual care plans, ensuring that it meets the totality of residents care needs including their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs, using the agreed model of care.
* Assist the Registered Manager with pre-admission assessments and arrangements necessary for admissions to the Home.
* Regularly evaluate the care plans and review their effectiveness, implementing changes in care when the outcome of care does not meet the goals of the care plans.
* Be responsible for the safe administration and safekeeping and ordering of drugs and treatments as prescribed and in accordance with the Home’s Policies if applicable and the NMC Guidelines.
* Organise time effectively and act autonomously to assess, monitor and identify clinical care needs ensuring the use of equipment in order to maximize potential.
* Responsible for auditing care delivery, developing action plans to rectify areas of weakness and monitor and report to Registered Manager.

Requirements for the Role

* Experience in a care environment in a senior nursing role or above
* RGN/ RMN qualified
* Valid NMC PIN number
* Strong communication skills including both oral and written
* A forward facing, organised individual with attention to detail.
* A role model for all nursing and care staff that leads by example
