Project Engineer

The company is a leading retailer who is seeking to strengthen their team by adding an additional project engineer with experience of warehousing and distribution.

To lead the delivery and implementation of defined projects as part of the development and project management of a portfolio of engineering projects to transition the total network as determined by the strategy teams to become a World Class Multi-Channel International Retailer.

Accountabilities

• Understand key business drivers associated to assigned projects.
• Interpret business data to support the development of the project. Where required collate business requirements and produce Project Mandate and Project Initiation documentation, prior to sponsor and stakeholder sign-off.
• Develop, implement and manage the components applicable to the project and its life cycle. Amongst other things this will include a combination of the following: Business Case, Resources, Programme, Controls, Risk Management, Management of Quality and Change Control.
• Interpret customer requirements, identifying and addressing design parameters and engineering problems, ensuring appropriate solutions are identified.
• Design and review solutions that underpin and support the Logistics Network Strategy.
• Review detailed specifications & technical drawings ensuring the solution fulfils the agreed business requirements.
• On smaller sized projects, identification, selection and management of third party contractors to ensure all equipment is fit for purpose, work is undertaken in a safe and controlled manner and project costs and schedules are controlled and adhered to.
• Manage supplier performance against agreed milestones and report progress to the Engineering Project Manager.
• Develop and co-ordinate project programme for the assigned work area and where necessary interface to other workstreams. Report progress, key risks & issues offering alternative solutions where possible.
• Ensure projects are effectively closed; this will follow successful completion of any training activities, user acceptance testing, finalised drawings etc. together with the transfer of responsibilities and ownership to line management and maintenance teams. Maintain and store comprehensive project information for future reference.
• Manage and complete contractual testing and issue resolution (based on TOC processes)
• Excellent knowledge of MHE Systems, solutions and suppliers in at least one of the following areas - MHE Systems, Solutions & Suppliers and their industry, Construction Industry, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
• Experience in Project Engineering from design through to implementation Mezzanine and Racking structures, Operational Processing areas, Office space and Ancillary areas
• Professional who is commercially astute and has ability to read / interpret drawings
• Highly motivated by the challenge of continuous improvement and value engineering required for project delivery
• Self-motivated individual who champions breakthrough ideas and initiatives - confronts & works to resolve tough issues.
• Project Engineer is pivotal in providing management & technical support to the Engineering Project Manager in order to achieve the overall goals of the project team.
• Support Foods/GM/International operations and 3PL’s with respect to all project works
