A fun, enthusiastic and innovative medium sized engineering Practice is looking for a Structural Engineer. The firm are currently working on a wide range of building structures projects including large hotels, resorts and leisure centres as well as commercial, residential and educational projects both in the UK and abroad.

You will be involved from scheme to detailed design including the preparation of calculations, sketches and mark ups and liaison with internal project teams as well as external stakeholders where appropriate.

You will also get to be part of the annual team weekend away in Europe all expenses paid for. You will preferably be a Graduate Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, Institution of Civil Engineers or both. Excellent Chartership training is given here.

You must be able to/have:

* contribute to the development of viable structural solutions, within the scope of a design brief, taking account of structural stability, durability, aesthetics, sustainability and cost.
* ability to carry out analysis and design of structural forms.
* ability to contribute to the specification and co-ordination of materials - steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
* ability to apply a developing knowledge of the Eurocodes and other design guidance appropriately in design situations.
* awareness of relevant environmental, societal, sustainability and economic issues, and associated legislation.
* awareness of a range of construction techniques.
* ability to communicate effectively and to explain engineering principles and work undertaken to other engineers.
* Able to compose drawings, sketches and reports that convey the appropriate level of detail and standard of presentation.

* Proactively working towards chartership of a relevant engineering institution.
* Committed to undertaking training and attending external industry functions and lectures to maintain and develop industry awareness.
* Has a working knowledge of relevant software, including Microsoft Project, Excel and Word, Autocad and Structural Analysis software. Knowledge of Revit would be an advantage.

* When opportunities arise, communicates effectively with clients and colleagues and build effective working relationships.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills for meetings, reports and presentations including contributing to writing Stage reports and producing clear sketches for external issue.
