An established Insurance managing agent based in the City. The Sportscover Group has built up an enviable reputation in sports and leisure insurance over the past 30 years. The Group provides insurance and related services to amateur sports, operating in several countries.

The Senior Finance Assistant role will be based in the City and will join a two member Finance team and will report to the Financial Controller.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for posting bank, credit card and personal expenses into the ledger (SAP B1)

  • Ensuring bank reconciliations and the monthly revaluation journal for GBP, EUR and NOK accounts are produced in a timely manner

  • Responsible for claims payments ensuring they are made in a timely manner via Bankline

  • Daily banking

  • Responsible for manual input into the insurance system ie Allocation of premium receipts from Brokers and claims payments

  • Ownership of the credit control function, sending out monthly broker statements, chasing Brokers for overdue payments and liaising with Underwriters when necessary

  • Providing the Financial Controller and the Underwriters with regular updates on credit control for management meetings

  • Ensuring all invoices are approved and AP payments are made in accordance with their credit terms

  • Assist Financial Controller with monthly balance sheet reconciliations

  • Assist and support the Financial Controller with ad-hoc finance tasks

The position will suit a likeable Senior Finance Assistant with solid knowledge of basic accounting.

  • At least three years’ experience in Finance & Accounting

  • Part qualified

  • Ideally degree educated

  • Working experience in the general insurance industry would be an advantage

  • Working knowledge of SAP Business One software is ideal

  • Strong excel skills

  • Strong attention to detail and determination with a high level of accuracy as a large portion of the workload is manual

  • Ability to multi task as this is a very varied role

  • Good numerical skills

  • Excellent communication both oral and written

  • Confident personality to deal with Underwriters and manage the credit control function

  • Positive attitude to effect change and determination to improve current processes

  • Honesty and discretion when handling confidential financial information

  • A team player who can take responsibility and work with a high level of autonomy

  • Ability to work closely with the Financial Controller and work in a small office environment


The salary offered ranges between £30,000 and £34,000 depending on experience and skills.
