An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join St Johns, the home of innovative and inspirational learning.

St John’s is a non-maintained special school and independent specialist college for day and residential learners aged 11-25. We are looking for a full time Occupational Therapist (40hrs) to work predominantly on the College site (learners aged 16-25yrs) which is situated in Brighton, East Sussex.

At St Johns we work with learners who have complex learning disabilities including Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Asperger’s Syndrome and behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD) .

The support of the therapy staff is key in enabling our learners to access all aspects of school and college life and the wider community of work, leisure and independence skills.

It is a challenging and exciting position that offers clinical diversity and the opportunity to work closely with a small team of Occupational Therapists and other members of our Multi Disciplinary Team, which includes Speech and Language Therapists, Nurses, Counsellors, Education and Residential Staff.

You will be responsible for overseeing and organising the therapy provision for a complex case-load of learners. The post holder will deliver and support intervention through training, advice and direct contact with individuals and groups.

The successful applicant will thrive on teamwork and enjoy working collaboratively as part of our supportive, innovative, and holistic multi-disciplinary team. This is a post, which requires someone who is dynamic, has excellent interpersonal skills and a flexible approach.

Ideally you should have experience of working in an educational setting with young people with a range of diagnoses. Training in Sensory Integration to level 1 and AMPs is also desirable.

In return St Johns will provide supervision and support, training and development opportunities; health and pension schemes.
