A senior member of the our client team providing financial advice to private clients (providing or bringing an existing client bank is not a requirement)

Principal Activities

  1. General Financial planning including Pensions, Investments, Trusts and personal taxes (income tax, National Insurance, CGT, IHT, Share Schemes, Corporate Taxation) Assurance (Life, Health, Critical Illness) School Fees and Wrap Schemes.

  2. Manage a personal portfolio of high net worth clients and will be expected to produce a personal revenue contribution in excess of £150K per annum.

  3. Leads, motivates and helps to develop junior members of his/her team as well as working closely with senior management to develop new sales ideas.

  4. Keeps abreast of current developments in financial services, the financial markets (in shares, property, insurance, derivatives, commodities and currencies) and economic trends.

  5. Provides retail clients with advice within a strict ethical and compliance framework, ensuring that all operations affecting the firm’s clients are carried out in accordance with FCA rules. Seeks new business, both from new and existing clients, working closely with brokers/portfolio managers and marketing staff to explain the firms’ services to potential new clients and following up all opportunities to win new clients.

  6. Provides input into technical and product development in those areas where the holder possesses especially strong expertise.

  7. Establish and manage procedures to ensure that the firm:

    (a) identifies, controls and monitors operational risks,

    (b) has the necessary standards, systems, processes and procedures in place to protect the company from these risks,

    (c) maintains the necessary records in order to satisfy external regulators and auditors.

    Personal Profile:

    The job holder must have a suitable threshold qualification which is expected to be a Diploma Level 4 qualification in Financial Planning from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). The Level 6 Advanced Financial Planning Certificate and/or Chartered status as a Financial Planner, either through CII or the Institute of Financial Planner, may also have been obtained.

    They will have a good knowledge of the product areas listed in 1 above. Knowledge in areas such as Divorce, Trusts, Tax Led Investments and Long Term Care will also be an advantage.

    They will have a record of developing new client work over at least two years as a Financial Planner and, typically, will have had prior experience as an independent or tied Financial Advisor.

    It is essential that the job holder is self-motivated and self-sufficient, willing and able to write their own reports and conduct their own research. They will need to be empathetic and able to express themselves confidently in front of clients. The ability to engage and build relationships with the target market, combined with a talent for explaining technical subjects to those with limited industry experience, is a must.
