The Shore Group are currently looking to recruit an Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join one of their reputable clients based on the outskirts of Glasgow.

Reporting to the Operations Director the main purpose of this role is to provide leadership, mentoring and direction to hourly and salaried personnel to drive and lead the development, implementation, support and continuous improvement of the Production Systems.

This position has a strong interaction with production, quality and design engineering and will manage and coordinate project resources across all product lines. Cross functional interaction with other business functions to implement processes to deliver QHSE and OTD outcomes as well as initiatives to reduce costs across manufacturing.

Inter-company contacts with other divisions are encouraged to obtain ideas and technical information.

Develop, train and support direct reports including on-going feedback, regular evaluations, development planning and training.

Main Duties, Responsibilities & Authorities

* Perform responsibilities associated with manufacturing design of the machining, fabrication, tooling, painting processes, and assembly (time standards, manufacturing related tools and equipment, and process documentation).
* Support and use quality tools and employee involvement to work toward continuous improvement in the manufacturing operation.
* Support new product development and sustaining engineering to insure quality product manufacturability at minimum cost.
* Recommend and execute plans to establish industrial capacity.
* Recommend and implement manufacturing scope and core processes.
* Oversee, develop and improve processes, quality and procedures in manufacturing to reduce costs, and improve productivity and through put.
* Design/ commission/ release machining, fabrication, and assembly tooling to pre-agreed requirements
* Provide plant or process flow layouts to improve productivity and provide for future requirements.
* Select optimum capital equipment as appropriate; then justify and oversee purchase, installation and start-up.
* Serve as a catalyst and technical resource for team problem solving and continuous improvement.
* Manage the implementation of change to the Production Process.
* Provide training and support direct reports
* Provide coaching, mentoring, and succession planning for direct reports and ensure that all members of the department have accurate, challenging, and timely objectives
* Ensure good, bi-directional communications between all levels of the department through the use of staff meetings, daily status meetings, etc.
* Support continuous improvement projects
* Support the engineering change process
* Prepare and provide data for make vs buy decisions like time studies, labour time calculations, tooling costs, etc.

Experience & Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering/Technology, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Min 3 Years of experience in manufacturing processes in a heavy equipment and steel industry
* Experience in the design and use of jigs and fixtures.
* Min 3 Years of supervisory experience.
* Experience with capital/ budgeting duties.
* A working knowledge of design for manufacturing, design for assembly, JIT, lean manufacturing, problem solving and continuous improvement techniques.
* Good communications skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of personnel and disciplines.
