Our Client is currently searching for experienced Registered Mental Health Nurses to provide care for vulnerable adults in forensic services.

Location: Diss Norfolk

Salary: £22.00

Hours: Full time or Part time

The Role

Dedication and motivation to help care for individuals with learning disabilities and mental health issues with challenging behaviour.

This role requires excellent communication skills, genuine care and a commitment to nursing.

Job Description

Forensic Services is a specialised service, supporting adults with a Learning Disability, a Mental Health illness and an Index Offence in Low and Medium Secure Units within a hospital.
Patients are treated during their stay in the hospital using a positive and proactive Care Pathway which focuses on individual abilities, interests and needs of each person. Patients are given the choice to plan meetings, support with families e.g. arranging visits, telephone communication and community trips.

Situations can sometimes be difficult and challenging. You will need a willingness to work with a variety of patients with differing needs and an ability to work with challenging patients demonstrating patience and compassion.

You will be asked to:

- Care for patients experiencing mental distress or who have an enduring mental illness;
- Build relationships
- Work within Multi-Disciplinary Teams and independent working
- Observations
- Respond to distressed patients, to understand the source of distress;
- Apply 'de-escalation' techniques to help people manage their emotions and behaviour;
- Encourage patients
- Develop social skills and helping to reduce feelings of isolation;
- Encourage and support to partake in social and educational activities
- Verbal and written communication
We require you:

Have the appropriate Nursing qualification (PIN) and Are registered with NMC
Have Clinical Experience of at least 18-24 months
Indemnity Insurance (If limited company)
Up to date BLS/ILS, Moving & Handling (Training can be provided)
Have the right to work with the UK.
Can provide up-to-date immunisation records
Have 2 clinical references within 6 months
Hold a full valid driving license (Desirable for rural locations)

Ability to supervise, teach and delegate to junior staff.
Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
Able to use own initiative and make sound ethical decisions.
Are a self-motivated individual who is able to assess and plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
Able to produce accurate legible records.
