Our client, a well-established homeless charity based in Cardiff, is seeking a temporary Senior Support Worker to start at short notice on a temporary contract covering whilst the organisation recruits on a permanent basis.

You will work within a team who manages a number of shared houses and residential flats for homeless people who have a dual diagnosis of both mental health and substance misuse issues. You will also provide a floating support service to people in the community who are at risk of losing their home due to their dual diagnosis.

Day to day duties:
• Provide a support & housing management service to clients living within shared houses or self-contained flats across Cardiff
• Work closely with clients who receive support in managing their mental health problems and substance misuse issues
• Support residents and service users to manage their health issues, develop coping strategies and gain independent living skills
• Support individuals to maintain their current tenancy or to enable them to move into their own home.
• Assist the clients to sustain their tenancies and to gain the life skills required to live independently
• Create, review and maintain individual support plans
• Conduct risk and needs assessments
• Provide advice on life skills, housing & non-housing matters, education/employment opportunities, finances, arrears, health and benefit entitlement
• Signpost clients to third party agencies including Local Authorities, specialist support providers, GP`s, education providers, the Benefits Office, the Job Centre and Social Services
• Oversee the housing management duties including monitoring rent and service charge accounts, resolving anti-social behaviour and monitoring maintenance issues

Essential Requirements:
• Previous experience of providing support to clients who are either homeless or suffering from mental health or substance misuse issues
• A full driving licence, with access to your own car
