Are you an experienced Contracts Manager within the Building / Refurbishment sector? Are you looking for a new challenge????

We have a client who are a small main contractor based in Central London who specialise in High End Residential Refurbishment projects for exclusive clients. The Managing Director has previous experience leading and setting up high profile refurbishment contractors in the London market. Four years ago he sold his stake in a large business he established and has decided to tackle a different market, High End Residential work. The business is growing at a steady rate, all work to date has come by referral, as such is the reputation.

When he set the business up, he took a number of trusted employees with him to include an experienced Contracts Manager. The current incumbent has had to take retirement at short notice for personal reasons, leaving an immediate requirement. The business currently employs circa 6 people to include Managing Director, Contracts Manager (Retiring), Health & Safety Consultant, Quantity Surveyor and a couple of Site Managers.

Plans for the business are to keep it small, circa £5M Turnover, with the emphasis on high quality, repeat business with projects ranging from £100K - £2M in value.

They are now looking to recruit an “experienced builder” with strong technical knowledge, capable of overseeing circa 3 live projects concurrently. The successful candidate should have come up through the ranks, progressing into Contracts Management. Ability to programme via Software IS NOT a pre requisite nor is strong contractual knowledge.
The successful candidate will need to be capable of interrogating Construction drawings, identifying ways to save money, improve the scheme, risk items, clashes etc, inputting at both pre construction and construction phase. Able to work closely with design teams and guide them. Able to hand write a programme, strong on sequencing and support the Site Manager.

It is not essential to have previous High End Residential experience as the Site Managers are well versed in this area and the Commercial / Contractual element is covered off by a very experienced Managing Director. The key attributes to this role will be, all round construction knowledge such as structural, temporary works etc. Ability to communicate professionally and gel with a small team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside other experienced professionals in their own fields, in a friendly, grown up environment.
