Our client is one of the largest turnkey EPC organisations s in the Oil and Gas industry, with a strong bias towards oil and gas related activities in the world including remote areas and deepwater locations.

They are a leader in the supply of engineering, procurement, project management and construction services, with distinctive capabilities in the design and execution of large-scale offshore and onshore projects.

They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Contracts Advisor to join the team in the UK HQ in Kingston, Greater London.


Knowledge of legal principles, obligations, responsibility of international contracts law/English law. Review and qualify or draft different types of Contracts, including but not limited to: Engineering, Construction, Transportation and Installation Contracts, and associated Confidentiality Agreements, Non-Disclosure and Restrictive Use Agreement; Memorandum of Understandings; Heads of Agreement and Nominated Subcontractors Agreements and Joint Venture Agreements; Alliances;

Full comprehension of all legal obligations and responsibilities arising out of the contracts entered into by Company, whether with clients or subcontractors and suppliers including any ancillary obligation related to bank or parent Company guarantees, performance and warranty bonds and national legislation on public works;

Prepare Contract Summaries and draft Conformity Reports on project specific basis. Maintain a robust contracts register and ensuring control processes are complied with;

Participate in meetings (with internal clients and with potential external clients, partners and subcontractors), taking notes and preparing summaries and/or Minutes of Meeting;

Negotiate the contractual instruments with the counter parties in the best interests of the Company and in accordance with Company risk policies;

Draft legal instruments and correspondence, and perform legal research

Knowledge of the industry standard contracts (FIDIC, LOGIC, BIMCO, etc.);

Capability to evaluate a contract in all its implications and to contextualise it in the general framework of the Project and the relevant market;

Capability to persuade the counter party and to understand negotiable and not negotiable items. Capability to discuss and negotiate contractual terms, in order to achieve agreements;

Knowledge and continuous updating in the international treaty and legislation impacting on Company activity, including international laws and practices related to sailing in international and national waters;

Candidate Profile:

Graduate degree in law is preferred. Candidates with diploma in law and relevant experience in contracts management and negotiation will be considered.

Experience in contracts negotiation in the commercial arena/Oil & Gas will be an asset.

Ability to lead and influence peers and key stakeholders

Highly disciplined approach to work required

Ability to perform under time constraint and work pressure

Ability to plan and organise the work to meet tight deadlines

Knowledge of European language is highly desirable but not essential

Ability to think out of the box in order to offer solutions to problems in relation to individual contracts/projects and internal issues

Prepared to travel occasionally for work
